UFC Fight Night London Daily Fantasy Picks

After a much-needed break from fights last weekend, we get a Fight Night card in London this Saturday. Former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum takes on the Russian Alexander Volkov in the main event, while local boy Jimi Manuwa faces Jan Blachowicz in the co-main event. If you need a break from March Madness you could do worse than some free fighting.

The main card kicks off at 5pm eastern on Fight Pass, while the prelims start at 1:45, also on Fight Pass.

I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here.

Now let’s get down to business.

Value Picks

  • Charles Byrd ($7,300) is an absolute steal this weekend. His striking is good enough to hang with John Phillips until he can drag the fight to the ground. Once there, Phillips will be unable to hang with Byrd, who will lock up a submission to end the thing.
  • Another undercard fight pits Stevie Ray ($8,400) against Kajan Johnson. “Chinny” might be too harsh of a way to describe Johnson, but nobody would describe him as having an iron-clad chin either. Ray’s boxing is crisp enough, he is aggressive, and he has decent power in both hands. I have to imagine he puts Johnson down at some point in the fight. And besides, the dude’s nickname is “Braveheart”.

Avoid

  • John Phillips ($8,900) can throw hard and hurt people, but as I mentioned above, Byrd has the right skillset to neutralize him and take him out of his comfort zone. I’m not wasting that kind of cash on him.
  • I’m picking Leon Edwards ($8,800) to win his fight, but I’m avoiding him in daily fantasy. Why? Because his style does not lend itself to high point totals. He’s a good fighter, but he doesn’t finish his opponents and he’s not offensively active enough to make up for that. Spend your cap space elsewhere.
