UFC on FOX 31 Daily Fantasy Picks

It’s hard to believe that this weekend marks the end of the UFC’s run on big FOX. I vividly remember the first card on FOX, a single fight affair where Junior dos Santos upset Cain Velasquez in short order to claim the heavyweight belt.

Now that run comes to end with a rematch between title contender Kevin Lee and former title challenger are full-time realtor Al Iaquinta.

I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here. Now let’s get down to business.

Value Picks

  • Jordan Griffin ($7,700) is a local Milwaukee product, and in typical fashion for an alum of DWTNCS, looks to be a powerful athlete with a knack for finishes. His official UFC debut pits him against a decent wrester, but one won’t be able to match Griffin’s athleticism.
  • Joaquim Silva ($7,600) hits hard, and looks to hit people. Fortunately for him, his opponent Jared Gordon actually doesn’t really try to avoid getting hit. While that plan worked for Gordon for a stretch, based on the results the last time he stepped into the cage his chin might finally be failing him. Gordon could make this an ugly 15 minutes, but I’m banking on Silva finding his chin before it gets too deep.

Avoid

  • Drakkar Klose ($9,300) has a favorable style matchup this weekend, but his fighting style just simply doesn’t lend itself to a lot of DFS points. High floor, but low ceiling. Use that $9K elsewhere.
  • Dan Ige ($8,500) is the aforementioned opponent os Jordan Griffin. As mentioned, his wrestling is pretty good, but he most likely won’t be able to impose that on Griffin. Avoid.
