I definitely feel bad for any card that has to follow-up last week’s epic main and co-main events. But hey, free fights are free fights, and these happen to be live during the day (if you’re in the USA).
I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here. Now let’s get down to business.
Value Picks
- Roxanne Modafferi ($6,900) just isn’t really much of an athlete. However, her veteran savvy combined with her grappling skills still make her a potent fighter. Antonina Shevchenko is more athletic and has the striking advantage, especially at range, but I doubt that she will be able to keep the fight there. I’m taking a flier on the “Happy Warrior” getting inside, taking the fight to the mat, and subbing the lesser Shevchenko.
- Rafael Fiziev ($7,700) has flashy strikes on top of flashy strikes, and should become something of a fan favorite as he progresses through the UFC. His opponent, Magomed Mustafaev, can throw heat, but the newcomer should be able to take over.
Avoid
- The aforementioned Antonina Shevchenko ($9,300) looks like she should be the favorite, but I just do not trust her ability to keep the fight where she needs to. Look elsewhere.
- Sergei Pavlovich ($9,200) tends to keep things at a slow-pace, which isn’t good for DFS purposes. Sure it’s heavyweight and anything can end at anytime, but this one screams avoid.
