UFC Fight Night 151 Daily Fantasy Picks

The UFC is back in the Great White North this weekend, and card comprised of some really fun matchups, as well as few “who?” fights. Overall, though, not a bad way to cap off Derby Day.

I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here. Now let’s get down to business.

Value Picks

  • The main event is a tough fight to call. Ragin’ Al Iaquinta has been underrated throughout his entire career, but might be finally receiving his due recognition. Donald Cerrone ($7,800), on the other hand, has seemingly been close to demise on several occasions, only to resurrect himself and brutally dispatch some young whippersnapper. I’ll be honest here, I was going to pick whichever of these fighters was below $8K, and Cowboy at 155 lbs. is a good deal at that price.
  • Cub Swanson ($7,400). Yes, I’m rolling with the old dogs this weekend. I really like his opponent, Shane Burgos, but he can be rote at times. Because this fight will be purely a striking one, I’m banking on Cub’s experience helping him peg Burgos’ timing and allow him to lay on an old-fashioned Cub hurting.

Avoid

  • Matt Sayles ($9,100) has had a tough draw for his first two UFC fights, debuting against Sheymon Moraes and now taking on Kyle Nelson. Nelson is big, strong, and aggressive, and Sayles is going to have trouble with him.
  • Aiemann Zahabi ($9,000) has been hyped to a certain extent because of his name. While he is a competent, high floor, kind of fighter, he doesn’t have the DFS kind of talent to justify that kind of price-tag. And anyway, Vince Morales, his opponent, is criminally underrated and will probably win this fight.
