Minneapolis hosts a UFC card this weekend that has several fun and interesting matchups *cough* Joesph Benavidez vs. Jussier Formiga *cough*, but let’s be honest. Jon Jones is on the horizon.
I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here. Now let’s get down to business.
Value Picks
- Journey Newson ($7,100) not only has a cool name, but he has some knockout power and gets to fight someone with sub-par defense in Ricardo Ramos. Ramos is definitely the favorite, but that price-tag makes Newson hard to pass up.
- Maurice Greene ($8,100) has a clear ceiling in the heavyweight devision, but is also clearly effective against a certain class of the division. His opponent, Junior “Diaper Boy” Albini, has not looked good at all for his last several fights, so I am going to roll with the kickboxer to get a finish here.
Avoid
- Drew Dober ($9,500) is the most expensive fighter this weekend. Granted, he is an extremely underrated fighter, but he is not a known finisher or known for high DFS point totals. Spend that cash on a fighter with a higher ceiling.
- Alonzo Menifield ($9,000) is a ton of fun, while his opponent Paul Craig is not. However, Menifield has basically run through sub-par competition to this point in his career, and Craig’s grappling is probably too much for him at this point.
