Wildcard weekend is here, and just like Charlie, you need to be a real wildcard to dip your toes in the DFS waters this weekend. There’s a real lack of compelling lineups, but when you’re an addict you need to get your fix somewhere…
Quarterback
A lot of backups are playing this weekend, which is… fun. Really the only one worth taking a shot on is Matt Moore in Miami. He has the best matchup of all the backups and also has decent weapons around him in Landry, Ajay, Stills, and Parker. Add in the fact that Miami is playing an explosive Pittsburgh team that has a hard time stopping people, and you might have magic in a bottle.
Eli Manning sucks, but Green Bay is starting a secondary from a bottom feeding D2 school. On the other side, Aaron Rodgers is the best QB playing this weekend, but he’s also playing the best defense this weekend. Also, it’s the playoffs, which means every Giants receiver will will catch a ball with their head.
Running Back
You cannot not play LeVeon Bell this weekend. If you don’t, everyone else will, and you will lose.
Jalen Richard is dirt cheap, but I think he will be utilized extensively against Houston if Oakland wants a chance to win the game. Houston can be beat by pass catching backs, and Richard is one of the better pass catchers in the league. Pretty decent safety blanket for a quarterback making his first professional start.
Another value play is Zach Zenner, who has come on strong over the past few weeks. He has been leaned upon by the Detroit offense because of Stafford’s wooden hand, and you can count on some more leaning on Saturday.
Wide Receiver
It’s hard to pick amongst the Miami receivers this weekend. At least one of them is going to get a lot of work, and Jarvis Landry is probably the favorite for that. However, I wouldn’t begrudge rolling with Stills or Parker either, as cheaper options.
Antonio Brown. Because duh.
As mentioned above, Green Bay might as well not even play a secondary, and Odell Beckham Jr. is basically the only real threat on the Giants offense. He should be getting plenty of burn this weekend.
Tight End
Real tough week for tight end play, but I do like Eric Ebron going up against a Seattle secondary that is missing Earl Thomas. Ebron is really the only Detroit option for exploiting the middle of the field, Thomas’s old stomping grounds…
In Green Bay, Jared Cook has been playing well, and Rodgers might need to look his way a few more times on Sunday with Janoris Jenkins draped all over Jordy Nelson.
Defense
Take your pick between Houston and Oakland. They’re both playing backup quarterbacks…
