It honestly feels like forever since we have had a UFC card, but in reality it has only been a few weeks. While this card in the United States Capitol isn’t amazing by any stretch of the imagination, distance does in fact make the heart grow fonder, and there are enough fun matchups here to serve as a decent appetizer for next week’s insanely stacked UFC 245.
Song Yadong vs. Cody Stamann? Cynthia Calvillo vs. Marianna Rodriguez? Yes, please.
I use DraftKings for my UFC daily fantasy fix, so if you don’t have an account you can sign up here (and get a 50% bonus on your initial deposit). Also, you can check out the scoring criteria here. Now let’s get down to business.
Value Picks
- Jacob Kilburn ($7,000). Sure, this is his UFC debut, and from what we’ve seen so far it looks like he has no takedown defense. However, Kilburn has shown a penchant for KO’ing his opponent, and given Billy Quarantillo’s “OKish” striking, I am willing to take the flier at that low price.
- I honestly do not understand the price tag for Ricky Simon ($7,700). While Rob Font my technically be the better fighter, Simon’s unchecked aggression makes him a DFS dream. And on top of that, Font has not dealt well with constant pressure throughout his career. The play is Ricky Simon.
Avoid
- Ben Rothwell ($8,600) is the obvious favorite over Stefan Struve, but this fight is just going to an ugly mess. I would it avoid it at all costs.
- Virna Jandiroba ($9,100) had a great Invicta run, but lost her UFC debut, and this weekend takes on Mallory Martin, who also had a great Invicta run. Both fighters have similar strengths, and I would say similar skill levels. While Jandiroba is the more seasoned of the two, I just cannot justify that kind of price tag.
